Saint Bruno of Cologne

  • Also known as: Bruno Hartenfaust, Founder of the Carthusians.
  • Feast Day: October 6.
  • Relic: Ex Ossibus (3rd Class Relic touched to the bone of the Saint).
  • Patronage: Spiritual oppression and possession; Blindness and deafness; Those seeking peace of mind; Plague; Germany and Calabria.
  • Biographical: Born c. 1030 in Cologne, Germany. A celebrated teacher and chancellor of the Cathedral of Reims, Bruno felt a profound call to solitude and prayer. Leaving behind his prestigious career, he founded the Carthusian Order in the rugged mountains of the Chartreuse, establishing a life of absolute silence and devotion. Known for his unwavering steadfastness and "quiet heart," he spent his final years in the wilderness of Calabria, Italy. He was canonized via equivalent canonization by Pope Leo X in 1514.

 

Full Stained Glass Design

This design features a full-stature representation of the saint. Unlike standard reproductions, our studio utilizes a specialized digital restoration process to elevate the artwork. We meticulously remove all structural "artifacts" from the original stained glass - including the horizontal black window dividers - and digitally recreate the missing pieces of the image. This results in a high-clarity, unobstructed view of the Saint that is often superior to the original photography and found nowhere else in the world.
