Biographical & Tradition
Belief in the existence of angels is a dogma of the Church and a fundamental part of the Christian faith. While three Archangels are named in the canon of Scripture, the Eastern Catholic and Orthodox Churches recognize at least seven Archangels by name. St. Barachiel is the powerful intercessor for families and the "Domestic Church." His name reflects his role as the distributor of God’s blessings. He is most often depicted with roses or petals falling around him - symbolizing the graces of God- or holding a bread basket, signifying the "staff of life" and the duties of Christian parenthood. He is a devoted guardian for converts and those struggling with infertility or troubled marriages.
